For 67-year-old Garth Lancaster, once you’ve started running your own hockey teams, it’s pretty hard to stop. 
In fact, just before COVID struck, Lancaster was the largest operator of spring hockey teams in Manitoba. But with the landscape changing, he decided to sell his company to a larger group and become a coach once again.
 
Of course, it wasn’t long before Lancaster, a man who has run some of the most competitive minor hockey teams in Manitoba, could no longer watch from the stands.
 
In fact, this past summer, Lancaster had 16 different teams playing competitive, off-season spring hockey under the Manitoba All-Stars banner, and soon registrations will open for a brand-new season. “This is about the time we get going,” Lancaster said. “We start to have tryouts and getting kids involved in our programs. It’s going to get busy.”
